State and Federal agencies provide several programs and services that forest and agricultural managers can use to conserve human's most basic life sustaining natural resources of soil, water, air, plants, and animals. The District acts as an intermediary between these agencies and the land managers to get conservation on the land. The board signs every conservation plan that is developed by TDA and USDA for farmers in Madison County. The District's office secretary is involve with clerical work of each plan and contract while the District's engineering technician is involved with practice application.

The District seeks to inform and educate by publishing newsletters and developing school handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and pamphlets. We participate in educational events such as Earth Day, Soil Stewardship Week, and we host an annual awards and appreciation banquet.
