The National Association of Conservation District (NACD) is a nonprofit organization formed in 1946 by soil conservation districts and their state associations. NACD represents the nation's 3,000 conservation districts and 17,000 men and women who serve on their governing boards. NACD unites districts into one voice and helps them accomplish collectively what they could not accomplish alone. On behalf of districts, NACD develops national conservation policies, influences lawmakers and builds partnerships with agencies and organizations. NACD also provides services to districts to help them share ideas in order to better serve their local communities. NACD's mission is to enable conservation districts to pool their resources to accomplish collectively what would be difficult or impossible to accomplish individually.
